Used to describe a person who is technically brilliant but can't seem to communicate with human beings effectively. Technically it describes a machine that has lots of processing power but is bottlenecked on input-output (in 1991, the IBM Rios, a.k.a. RS/6000, was a notorious example).

あまり必要ないだろうけど，超訳。

技術的には優秀なものの，人間と効果的にコミュニケーションを取ることができないような人物を説明するのに使われる。技術的には，処理能力は高いものの，入出力がボトルネックになっているマシンを説明するのに使われる（1991年の IBM Rios （RS/6000 としてもおなじみ）が悪名高い例）。

もっとも，用例をネットで調べたんですけど，言葉だけが独り歩きしているみたいで，実際に使われているところはあまりないみたい。He has lots of MIPS but no I/O. とか，We don't hire a person with lots of MIPS but no I/O. とかって使うんだろうか。

どちみちイヤミな言葉に違いはないわけですが。
